Book Review: A Timeless Romance Anthology (European Collection)

I love a good love story - and this collection has six!

The Timeless Romance Anthologies are brilliant. A reader is exposed to wonderful authors with fantastic stories. In fact, because of reading an author's novella included in this anthology, I bought one of her books. Each story is unique and a thrill to read. Women are found in London, Venice, New York, and places in between and are quality characters. Each man is a gentleman and written exquisitely so that readers will fall in love, too. With six short novellas, beautifully written and clean (which is rare to find in a good book these days), A Timeless Romance Anthology: European Collection is the perfect book for yourself, your sister, or your friend.

Here is a little bit about each of the fantastic reads:

War of Hearts by Annette Lyon - What is better than love with some action? Not kissing action - war action. In this story, we find two young people who go to Finland to escape their ex back home. Imagine their surprise when they end up in the same army camp where they are supposed to work as a team reporting on the war.

The Earl of Oaksey Takes a Wife by G. G. Vandagriff - When a young couple returns from eloping, they are determined to show how much they love each other every day. However, the new bridegroom is thrown out of the house when his wife finds out he married her for her money. As the days go on, the young woman realizes how much she misses her husband. Does she take him back? Did he really marry her for money or is it just a nasty rumor? Read to find out. :)

Gift of Love by Michele Paige Holmes - This story was surprising to me. It had romance (of course) as well as a little bit of mystery. The reveal at the end was  surprising yet appropriate - meaning it was a good twist that fit. A young woman is taken from a convent soon before she takes her vows by her brother who has asked her to marry his best friend and care for his 3-year old daughter. At first she agrees simply on account of the child, but when she gets to know her new husband, she realizes how much she loves him. But she is his fourth wife. Can he truly love her in return?

A Lesson in Love by Sarah M. Eden - I believe this was my favorite in the collection. I laughed out loud several times and thoroughly enjoyed each character, their interactions, and the plot. A newly married couple returns to London and each are determined to have a perfect Season. Little do they know that 'perfect' is very different for each of them. When they go to their families for advice, they get more than they bargained for and it turns into a battle of the sexes.

An Ocean Away by Heather B. Moore - I related to the young woman in this story and her love for reading & desire to find herself in her own romance novel. Little does she know when she climbs down her balcony to sneak into the garden and read a book that the man she notices watching her from his room will, unexpectedly, fit the bill.

When in Venice by Nancy Campbell Allen - While attending an art function in Venice, at a masquerade ball a mysterious man approaches a young woman on a balcony. Emboldened by her mask, she agrees to look at some art with him and is surprised to find that they are similar on many levels. As they sight-see together the following day, each slowly realizes that they are falling for the other. When trouble appears in the form of her step-father, will her recently-met attraction come to the rescue?
